The system has been designed to provide Developers with access to data from across the region's transport network. The system enables you to register for an account, select data feeds and to provide details of the application you are intending on creating.

Reading Borough Council hopes that by making more data available from across the region’s transport network that this will inspire the development of high quality applications that create better informed travellers and stimulate smarter choices.




Current Feeds

Name Description

Bus

Bus Stop Centric Returns an XML file containing the Bus Stop ID, NaPTAN code, Stop Name, Latitude, Longitude and Bus Services which serve each stop
Bus Services Returns an XML file containing the Service ID, Service Route Description, and Bus Operator for all bus services running into and out of the Reading area
Bus Routes Returns an XML file containing the Service ID, Bus Stop Reference, Direction and Order of a set of bus stops making up each bus route
Bus Service Status This describes the current operating status of each bus service such as those currently operating a good service in accordance with the timetable through to those with delays or not currently in service. Returns an XML file containing a list of Bus Services, Operators and the current status of each service.
Bus Arrival / Departures Provides details of expected arrivals/departures at the requested bus stop locations. It is necessary to specify a location identifier (Bus Stop ID). Returns an XML file containing a list of Bus Services, Final Destination,Scheduled Arrival, Scheduled Departure, Expected Arrival, Expected Departure and time until arrival of each service to the selected bus stop location

Road

Static road link data [under development] The service provides details of the road link sections used by the RBC network management systems within the Reading area. Reading’s traffic signal systems use a combination of centrally controlled signals and locally controlled signals and this data provides information from the centrally controlled signals including providing approximate percentage level of congestion over the detector loops and traffic flows over key detector loops. Returns a XML file containing static link data from COMET
Real time flow [under development] The service provides details of the road link sections used by the RBC network management systems within the Reading area. Reading’s traffic signal systems use a combination of centrally controlled signals and locally controlled signals and this data provides information from the centrally controlled signals including providing approximate percentage level of congestion over the detector loops and traffic flows over key detector loops. Returns an XML file containing current flow and (where available) average speed data for each link defined in the static data

VMS

Variable Message Sign Data Definition [limited data – under development] The service provides details, where available, of the locations and current messages displayed on the variable message signs located within Reading. Messages are set by the Council and can relate to congestion, incidents, upcoming events or road-works and car park occupancy. Currently this only provides the messages being shown on the older ‘free text’ signs but it is proposed that messages from the new signs will be incorporated. Car Park occupancy data shown on the VMS is not published under this data feed but can be sourced from the parking data. Returns an XML file with the site ID, location, road number and current text on each Variable Message Sign

Car Park Reference Data For static information about car parks such as locations, opening times and capacities.
Car Park Occupancy Data For dynamic information about car parks such as occupancies.

RoadWorks

Road Works The service provides details of all current and planned road works within the Reading area with details of the location, duration and severity of the impacts they are likely to have. Where statutory undertakers have to undertake emergency works, ie a gas leak, there can be a delay in this information being published to the Open Data Server. Returns an XML file containing details of road works due to take place

ANPR

ANPR [Under Development] The service will provide details of the journey times along the links monitored by Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). ANPR Device Details

Bluetooth

Bluetooth Location Data [Live - Under Development] Provides details of the locations of the Bluetooth Journey Time Monitoring System sites, Links and Routes.
Bluetooth Live Journey Times [Live - Under Development] The service provides details of the journey times along the links and routes monitored by the Bluetooth Journey Time Monitoring System.
